The Book
Love You Live, Rolling Stones: Fanfare
From the Common Fan is the only tribute book about the Rolling Stones
presented from the fans' perspective. It is a collection of stories by
fans on the road with the band, for over four decades. It features
hundreds of never-before-published photos of the world's Greatest Rock &
Roll Band.
Written, edited and compiled by Marilou Regan, Love You Live contains 80
stories from fans from 20 countries around the world who wrote about
Rolling Stones memories at some of the most important events in the
history of Rock'n'Roll. First-person stories including: the crowd
record-breaking concert in Hyde Park, the infamous Altamont Concert; and
the BBC special Rock'n'Roll Circus. Each story contains a historic
perspective of the era and the mood of the country it represents. The
stories are anecdotal and personal and filled with adventures from
Rolling Stones tours.
Love You Live is the only tribute book dedicated to the Stones by their
fans, who have shared their personal photos and memorabilia collections
for the book. And Rolling Stones guitarist Ron Wood has contributed
collectible artwork. This big, beautiful full colour coffee table book
has 256 pages and measures 9 x 12 inches.
The book takes its name from the popular live Rolling Stones double
album released in 1977, which was mostly recorded during their Tour of
the Americas in 1975. At the beginning of each concert on this tour an
excerpt from Aaron Copland's "Fanfare for the Common Man" was played as
an overture.
The book's business matters with the Stones organization have been at
the centre of controversy, but author Marilou Regan wants to focus on
the acclaim from the fans, the positive press reviews and the many
prestigious national awards the book has won. It is a work of art and a
must-have for any serious Stones fan.
Love You Live is now out of print and
Marilou has fewer than 200 copies left. It is highly unlikely that the
book will ever be re-printed, so time is running out to buy a copy.

The Controversy
Author Marilou Regan worked for several years with the Stones
organisation to produce this book, allowing them to approve every word
and photo. They even gave her contacts and photos to use.
There was a signed contract between the organization and Marilou to
include this fabulous book in the Licks tour merchandise package. She
had a contract with them to buy a certain number of books and to sell
the book as the official book of the tour. They demanded exclusivity and
she cancelled other offers from distributors to sell the book. She
re-mortgaged her house to publish it.
At the 11th hour when the tour was readying they screwed her, telling
her that now Prince Rupert’s daughter was going to write the official
book and they would not be selling her book after all. They demanded all
of the material they gave her be returned and it was used in the other
book.
Marilou hired lawyers to fight the breach of contract and other issues
and through talks with lawyers was led to believe they would carry an
updated version of the book on their Bigger Bang Tour. When it came time
to work the details out, she was stonewalled.
After two years of negotiations with the Stones lawyers to get back her
investment, Marilou finally had to file a Federal lawsuit against the
Stones organization, Cohl, Rupert and others.
To date the Stones' organisation has spent over one million dollars to
fight Marilou's case.
In September 2008, a judge in Pennsylvania ruled that the lawsuit
Marilou Regan filed against Prince Rupert and Michael Cohl etc, had to
be thrown out since "the Stones organisation doesn't do business in
Pennsylvania". A technicality that could be overruled by the Supreme
Court.
She now owes her attorney $75,000, on top of the $250,000 debt she
incurred and the value of the contract that Cohl and Loewenstein broke.
She took up a loan on her home to finance the project, when the contract
was cancelled at the last minute and it was too late to turn back. She's
in danger of losing her house and everything she's worked for her entire
life.
And all because she's a die hard Stones fan who wanted to give you the
tribute book you deserve.
Marilou's sad situation has upset many fans. Those of us who have
managed to get copies of the book just love it Her only recourse was to
file a lawsuit to force the guilty parties to right their wrongs against
her. As it stands now, one of the biggest and most loyal fans of the
Rolling Stones is royally and financially screwed by the band's
(former?) business partners.
